Onix
The context
For people living with specific, difficult-to-treat, or chronic health challenges, getting meaningful support can be frustratingly difficult. To avoid long waitlists and geographical barriers, many are turning to generic AI tools for guidance. But chatbot responses lack personal context, forget previous conversations, and often rely on public data systems that raise major privacy concerns.
Health and wellness experts face the other side of that same problem. There’s only one of them, but there are countless people actively searching for the answers they already have. These experts know their methodologies can help people navigate health challenges, yet reaching those individuals at scale is incredibly difficult. At the same time, large AI models scrape publicly available expert content without permission to generate watered-down responses in the expert’s name.
Onix is a platform for world-class experts combining expert-trained AI, long-term memory, and privacy-first technology to deliver deeply personalized wellness support. The platform is built around personalized AI companions, called “onixes,” each created, trained, and owned by a specific health or wellness expert. This allows participants to engage with guidance grounded in that expert’s methodologies, specialization, body of work, and defined boundaries, exactly as the expert intended.
The Onix team approached Osedea to help bring the platform experience to life through branding, visual identity, design systems, the iOS mobile app, and website design. Here’s how we shaped the front end of an entirely new way to connect people with trusted expert knowledge.
Project details
The challenge
The client came into the project with a strong vision already in mind. They knew they wanted to build a completely new kind of AI platform centered around trusted expertise, personalization, and privacy.
But as the platform started to take shape, that vision evolved and the scope became more focused. So, the central challenge was clear from the start: stay agile.
We knew this wouldn’t be a project where every interaction and feature could be fully defined upfront. New possibilities would surface. Priorities would shift. Ideas would sharpen. The platform would need room to evolve. That meant our design approach needed to support rapid iteration, fast concept testing, and flexible systems that could grow with the product.
While AI avatars and assistants already exist, Onix was imagining something closer to an ecosystem with a social layer built in. Part of what made the project especially interesting from the get-go was the lack of clear reference points. There wasn’t an established UX blueprint for the kind of experience we wanted to create, so we knew we’d need to approach the work from first principles.
One of our biggest areas of focus would be the AI chat experience itself. Unlike most AI platforms, where users interact with a single assistant, Onix wanted participants to engage with multiple expert onixes across different topics at the same time. That meant carefully designing how conversations, navigation, memory, and context would function across multiple AI agents within one cohesive platform experience.

The task at hand
While the Onix team handled the platform’s development and AI systems internally, Osedea led the branding, visual identity, design system, iOS app UX/UI, and website design. Every visual touchpoint for Onix was designed by our team.
From the start, the process was highly collaborative and iterative. Using Figma as our primary collaboration tool, we tested ideas, gathered feedback, adapted quickly, and improved continuously.
In a space where AI products can often feel cold or overly technical, a core design goal was making the platform feel warm, welcoming, and deeply human. That experience needed to work equally well for both participants (those navigating health challenges) and Guides (the specialists sharing their expertise on the platform).
Onix is extremely vocal about privacy, user ownership, and protecting expert knowledge. Conversations are treated as private and sacred. We wanted those values to come through clearly in the product experience through intentional design decisions around flows, messaging, and interaction patterns that reinforced transparency and trust.
At the same time, we needed to balance the platform’s immediate health and wellness use case with a broader long-term vision. The systems and interaction patterns needed to feel flexible enough to eventually support other forms of trusted expert guidance across new verticals.

The end result
After nine months of close collaboration, Onix officially launched its iOS mobile app in April 2026. The platform now connects participants with trusted expertise in areas like aging and longevity, stress and sleep, relationships, food as healing, and more, creating a completely new model for long-term wellness guidance.
For Guides, the experience starts inside the creator portal, where they upload their body of work, including research papers, e-books, podcast transcripts, methodologies, and other source material. Experts maintain full ownership of their data and their lifetime of knowledge. Experts keep most of the revenue, define the boundaries of their expertise, and can remove their content from the platform at any time. They can also fine-tune how their onix responds so the experience reflects their tone, personality, and methodology.
For participants, Onix creates a more personalized and continuous form of support. Participants join the platform, share what they’re struggling with, and get connected with relevant experts in specific domains, allowing them to engage with an expert’s onix through ongoing conversations tailored to their unique situation.
Through paid subscriptions, participants gain access to personalized wellness plans called Journeys. These adaptive plans evolve over time, respond to new information, and check in when life inevitably gets in the way. For someone managing a chronic condition like a thyroid disorder, for example, Onix creates access to the expertise of a specialist in a way that feels continuous, supportive, and deeply personalized.
The Onix team is extremely happy with the concept development, UI, and overall product experience, especially how intuitive and approachable the platform feels.
What’s next
The project is still ongoing, with Osedea and Onix working hand-in-hand to evolve and expand the platform as new opportunities emerge. By the end of 2026, the project will fully transition in-house, with Onix continuing to build on the strong design foundations established throughout the collaboration.
While health and wellness is the platform’s current focus, Onix was always designed with a broader vision in mind. The systems, interaction patterns, and UX foundations were intentionally built to support trusted expert guidance across other domains, while still preserving the trust, personalization, and continuity that define the Onix experience today.
We’re proud to have helped shape a product experience that allows trusted experts to scale their knowledge, methodologies, and clinical reasoning without losing the human touch behind them.
